I guess that makes me question why they are so expensive to actual buy the download? Cutting out the hard material disc, transportation, logistics, store, etc. A download really dont cost them anything to let me do it??
I am sure they have smarter people than be deciding on a pricepoint. But it seems to me they are loosing customers. For under $100 per year, someone can use a good VPN and pirate all they want. THAT is really what they are competing with. And for $15+ per download, people are opting for the VPN/torrent. But if they sold the downloads for ~$5, it makes less sense to do the illegal thing. Save the VPN fees to buy 15-20 movies a year. Only difference is where that $100 per year goes. A VPN administrator? or the Movie industry.
I think most that pirate movies (and I have done a TON of reading), only do so cause there isnt a good affordable alternative like itunes did for music. And the people using VPN's and pirating would rather pay a few bucks a movie to the movie industry instead of a VPN. But again, that is just the tone I get from reading various other forums on the topic.
