I hear that the JD and K are the exact same, only they pick the JD's before they are fully ripe.

Is the Kubota L3400HST close to a JD 955? Just wondering.

The old JD955 was HST and still developed 27.5 HP@ the PTO. It weighed 2000 pounds and had terrific hydraulics.

Perfect tractor if you live on a steep hill. Rough rider and needed a better FEL.
I am waiting for thr next gen version to come out. They were not cheap.

The Kubota L3400 weighs more with less HP. Does have better FEL then the 70A.

My Grand "L" would stall out on my hill. The 955 would not.

I will still compare green, orange and blue next time I buy. Some times JD has a perfect fit. Really true in the smaller 318 size machines.

Same here.

My last time out I decided I preferred the XXL size of the 3320 vs. the comparatively petite B series. Just a personal preference. That along with other feature considerations led me to green. Brand name had nothing to do with it.

I've decided on the 3030 w/ FEL and MMM. Next thing is to negotiate the $$$

Now the question is 60" or 72" MMM
I have gone back through 2007 posts and it looks like it is about even on those w/ 60" or 72".
How easy is it to mount/remove 60"
The 72" is drive over, so is it that much easier to mount/remove?
with the 72, is scalping an issue.
Is the 60" that much more maneuverable...the 72" is only 6 in wider on each side

just curious on your thoughts

Good choice. Same exact tractor & setup I just bought. I got the 60" deck (cheaper, more maneuverable for my needs, and more seat time for me - don't tell the wife ;) ). Compared to what I'm used to, this deck is a monster.

Since it was just delivered to me, I haven't used the mower yet. But I was shown how to mount/unmount the deck by the guy who delivered the tractor. It took all of 2 minutes. It's actually easier than the deck on my little JD 325 lawn tractor.

I have no experience with the 72" deck.

I have a 60" mowing deck on my B3030, frankly I regret not getting the 72" deck. I got the 60" thinking I was going to get the bagger but have since canceled the bagger. I think that scalping will be a function of your lawn, at my place there are a couple areas where I have formed drainage swales, my 60" deck rides funny through them I am sure that the 72" would be harder yet to cut these. The 60" deck is nice because it rolls under my boat in the adjacent bay for the winter, the 72" wouldn't fit as well.

I find the deck easier to get on and off than my BX23 deck, particularly becuase the tractor is so much higher that you have room to get the PTO shaft aligned. I simply roll it under the machine make up the PTO shaft, the lift arms and the front support thingy, and then I rotate the two sets of wheels, run this process in reverse and it is off, it really does take just a few minutes on and off, 2 would be tight but 5 or 6 pretty easy. The way I look at it is that I let the tractor warm up for at least 10 minutes, even in the summer, so I am removing or installing and greasing the deck in that time and really not losing any time.

Adjusting the cut height is not nearly as easy as my BX23 was but I don't do it that often, it takes me a little while to figure out the charts showing which pin in which hole but it makes sense after a while. And the cut, I have reported is probably 90 to 95% as good as the BX was.

On the topic of Green to Orange, I really can't help myself look at the JD3320 pricing that I have seen and think that it has more capacity than my B3030 and costs less. I have no regrets with my B3030 and the low weight is extremely important to me because I mow my lawn and it is wet. I have never even seen a JD3320 in person so I can't say and I find my B3030 to be perfect but when looking at simply $ and capacity it looks like the JD has greater $/hp, $/pump capacity, $/lift capacity, etc., but then honestly I am only taking a birds eye view of the two.
