Any ideas why my Honda generator won't produce power?

EXCEPT, generator motors have a "tapered" shaft, so they are hard to be useful for anything else... SR

That's nothing an extremely cheap person such as myself can't fix with a metal lathe.

Somebody thought of the taped shaft problem but wants $60 for the adapter.

Google tapered shaft adapter. there are even ones specific for the Honda engines.

I have a larger generator that quit producing power and it was the brushes which have to be replaced every 1,000 hrs. Your generator may be new enough that it doesn't have any brushes.

I got an old Honda 3500 model a few years ago for $100 that had the same issue (ran good but made no electricity). I did a lot of internet research and some multimeter testing and it turned out to be a bad diode. A trip to radio shack and some soldering fixed it right up.

Now that Radio Shack has closed it's doors, where do you go to get electronic parts?

Just find a Ham and ask him for a diode. Digi-Key is an awesome company, but the shipping would cost a hundred times more then one gp silicone diode.

I had a small Yanmar genset rewound and for whatever reason, it would never self excite. I just put a permanent pushbutton switch on the panel that I have to push to get power. Don't remember, might have used a small relay in there as well.

I got the generator going. It turned out to be the switch after all.
