People who own tractors, might have a stereo or HT system too, right?

(whew, there's my tie in)

I'm wondering if there are any fans here who own or know of Klipsch products, Klipschorn, LaScala, Belle Klipsch, Cornwall, Reference series etc...

I've owned a pair of LaScalas for a couple years (like since 1979) and am putting together some parts that will make a HT system, or 2 ch system that will sound killer.

Also, if anyone has any knowledge (or wants some input) on PWK's refinement to the Klipschorn, the Jubilee lemme know, seems I know someone who is going to acquire a pair of them  .

Ultimately, I'm just babbling here wondering out loud if there are any Klipsch fans here and more interestingly, if anyone would like to find out how to get ahold of PWK's Jubilee system (pic in avatar).

I never said they were small  !!!

Although you might think I'm shilling for the company, I'm only doing so because I love their products and what they do. I'm not affiliated with them in any way other than being a LONG time, very satisfied customer.

:D

So, before you go out & buy your (insert brand), give some Klipsch Heritage a listen.

(fine print to be read like those commercials where the guy talks so fast you can hardly understand him: Persons living in my geographic neighborhood or further who want to drive & visit for a listen... are welcome to stop by, only requirement is bring some music you love to hear)

There truly is a whole different world out there for audiophiles. There's some incredible high-end equipment (that also comes with some incredible high-end price tags). I guess it's a lot like optics. You can buy a pair of Bausch and Lomb binoculars that you buy for $100, then there's the Zeiss and Swarovski's that cost 10X that.

I was introduced to "SpeakerCraft" in-the-wall speakers. Someone I work with used to sell them and had some product stored away. He sold me two pairs that I put into my home addition for surround sound. All I can say is that those suckers rock!! I had never even heard of them before and never expected something that fits in the wall to sound worth a flip. I ended up getting about 3K worth of speakers for $100.

I'm just babbling here

You might as well have been speaking Chinese, or some other language, as far as I was concerned. I didn't have the slightest idea what you were talking about, but after the other response, I'm guessing you were talking about some particular brand of sound equipment that I never heard of.:D

Back in the early 90's I worked at a highend audio store. There growth to that point was all audiphile. We had a number of clinets that had Klipschorn's. One client used those with some Krell mono-block amps (it was incredible), but then the huge "home theater" craze took over. The store slowly started specializing in home theaters and the audiophile systems seemed to go by the wayside. Klipsch was great stuff, I have no idea about the new stuff. I did install a couple of home theater/whole house sound systems with control systems that were $150,000 plus back from about 93-95. The I moved to professional audio. I still remember installing a system in a old movie theater (that was converted to an events center), the darn salesman sold them a chessy system because the budget was non-existent. As I went to remove some of their old system, I found some of the old EV "Voice of the Theater" speakers that were not even hooked up. The customer probably just threw them out. Those speakers were kind of like the k-horns of the Pro-audio world back in the 70's.
Watch those db levels, and have fun. Dave

A buddy of mine was really big on his reference Klipsch speakers. I don't recall the specific model. I had some really high line Wilson floor model speakers that I liked even better, but they cost considerably more. I sold those quite a while ago because I was afraid of one of my 5 kids even touching them. Heck, I ended up getting some Bose 901's because I could hang them from the ceiling and an Infinity Cascade 15 powered sub to go with them. The two together actually sound quite nice. If you've never heard one of the Infinity Cascade 15's, you ought to hear (feel) one. I'd have to look on the box, but I think it has an 800 watt RMS amp built in. It thunders!

Bird: You’re right. The pic in my avatar is their Jubilee. This is part of their “cinema” line and frankly, if you’ve been to a theatre or stage show… it’s possible you’ve heard them. My wife isn't going to like their "designer look" when I drag them inside & install in the living room...

OKnewguy: The EV’s used (I think) the same design plan that was patented by Klipsch back when. Not sure about that, but I know there were other companies making "knockoffs” (legally) of their folded horn bass bin.

Dargo: Bet them Wilsons sounded sweet!

Thing about Klipsch is you can get unbelievable sound, yet the cost (though it CAN be high) isn’t as high as other “audiophile” speakers.

Heck, I’d put my LaScalas and soon to arrive Jubilees against any other pair of speakers. Even more so if I was allowed to use tube power with mine, like McIntosh.

You can get away with a wide variety of power amps when your speakers are 104 db efficient!!!

I have a small Klipsch THX setup for the computer. Two small bookshelf speakers and a sub. Bought it as a floor/display model at Sam Goodys a few years ago. I could not believe the sound from this thing.

I can rememeber my high school Calculus teacher talkng about his Klipsch speakers and that was 35 years ago so they have been around a while.

I have some Elctro Voice Interface C's that I bought 29 years ago because I could get an employee discount. I still like them. They are still cranking out the music.

Back in the 70's they used to have some movies with "sens-surround" (sp?). I recall seeing the movie Earthquake and I think Midway with that. Basically they used some Voice of the Theater 18" subs and rattled the $h... oops, crap out of the theater. I'm fairly certain that the ceiling came down in a few theaters and they outlawed that effect. Anyone recall sens-surround?

Although the surrounds are all dry rotted, a buddy of mine still has a set of 4 of them he took out of the movie theater. I think he sold the amplifier that drove them. It was a huge rack that I think said something like MacIntosh on it? Or, am I thinking of the Apple computers...?? Anyway, they would literally thunder!

I visit the Audioholics site now and then. I remember reading about how Klipsch had changed considerably since being sold. I know little about their product other then when they first came out. Tremendous volume at relatively low power levels. I like big sound but cannot have big speakers. I am still an advocate of great stereo speakers and adding in the surround speakers around my two front mains.
