One inch of asphalt is difficult to lay on stone base. Any imperfections in the gravel base and one inch becomes less than one half inch or more than one inch. On gravel will lay nothing less than two and one half. What you saved is asphalt not labor and no paver around here at least would lay asphalt that thin on stone or milling
