Re: Any pic\'s of blue tractors stuck?

Robert, how did you get the dozer back upright... I have a just recently gotten a JD450C and have lots of questions.. Only had it stuck a little while one afternoon, and tried my best to turn it over once... Only been over on the nose once and it was not too bad to get out of.. Also haveing a big guy around (other equipment) does make one a lot braver.

Re: Any pic\'s of blue tractors stuck?

Howdy!

Came darn close this weekend to a good "stuck." Had the TC29D out with the loader on and was leveling out some dirt -- taking from a higher spot and filling in a lower spot.

Things were going dandy till I wasn't paying perfectly close attention and the bucket got in a little deep and took a full scoop of wet mud where it had been dry! I looked down to see both front wheels disappear in a pool of mud and water!

Yikes! With all the weight on the front end, the loader just kept pushing the front axle down. I had 4WD locked in, and I started to reverse with little luck. Stepped on the diff lock, and it managed to pull itself out with all 4 wheels churning. The front axle & wheels were completely covered in mud.

Dumped the bucket back in the hole and took stock of the situation. Dirty, but glad I had 4WD! My best guess is that I got a bit too deep downhill from my drainfield. The water must have been perk'ing just below the surface. Luckily, it wasn't too ripe!

Have fun out there, and watch out for the hidden wet spots!

Best Regards,
Jay

Re: Any pic\'s of blue tractors stuck?

The 450 G had a 6 way blade on it and I had my dad operate it working the blade and keeping it in reverse while I was on the 135 pulling with a cable hooked to the back of the dozer. Eventually it wore out enough bank to climb out but it took a few minutes. The creek had about a 5 foot drop where I was grading so it was just a matter of time till we could pull back up, I couldn't go forward because the blade was stuck in to the creek. One word of advice, if you are working around any areas that are wet get the widest pads on the dozer you can find. We had 30 inch pads on ours and still got stuck but it allowed us to cross some soft ground that we wouldn't have been able to make with 18 inch pads. Good luck and try not to set her on the nose.

Re: Any pic\'s of blue tractors stuck?

Don't you hate when this happens. Put a dozer on it's side that is. Sure is nice to have a winch on the back to help things out though.

See picture above.

Whooooaa.

Do you know how that happened? Looks like the guy who built the cab planned on being the driver when it goes over.

Re: Any pic\'s of blue tractors stuck?

OK, about an hour ago, mowing down a pretty steep slope--front wheels in clay; diff lock no help. Had to hitch up the pickup for about 3' of assist. Picture's blurry because the humidity here is about 132% and the camera was in the house. Being less than a quick learner, I was stuck about 4' from the same place with the rotary cutter about two weeks ago---this slope was just built last year and doesnt seem to dry out quite like everything else!!

Gordon,

Hmmm, you seem to have an awful lot of pictures of stuck, busted up and rolled over equipment. Is this an ongoing hobby?

Did your mower catch? If so I guess that would be an advantage to a rear mounted finish mower.

Re: Any pic\'s of blue tractors stuck?

Robert--I don't think the mower caught until the front tires were mired in enough to bring things to a halt. The mower lifted well clear of the bottom even dug in, although the truck was close enough that I didn't try too hard to get it out; I'm sure I could've dug it in deep enough to implicate the mower if I'd tried!! I used to have a stern-mount finish mower on a Yanmar, and found it a little cumbersome in close quarters, and so opted for the belly mower; I'm still not sure I made the right decision, but I do feel like on hills like the one in the picture, (I've got several of them), the belly mower's gotta be better from a center-of-gravity perspective.

Eeerrrr uuummmm well I guess so ./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
Ya see a while back I started a tread I buried my tractor and it seems no one else had or would admit to it anyway. So since then I've collected a few pictures here and there. That way when I do bury mine I don't feel so bad./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Since it's such a hot day out I'll post my all time favorite.
