I am thinking about dropping the $265 on a case of TRC 880 moly but this is definitely overkill for me with my single tractor...unless some people here want to split the case with me. I assume that one 14 oz canister would last me about a year. Otherwise the Super-Tech stuff is cheap and convenient. ANyone have any experience with it? My mechanic swears by it, but I know that doesn't really mean all that much.

Since I don't know what tractor you have (hint update your profile hint) it's hard to say. FEL pins are usually the item that needs greasing most often. I am using a 14oz tube of grease approximately every 40 hours of runtime. Unless you are running 100's of hours a year, an enormous tractor that takes ounces in each fitting, or a backhoe with 30+ fittings, I think this purchase would be misplaced.

Thanks. Profile updated. Yah I definitely don't need a case but I am quite **** and tend to be a perfectionist about machine maintenance. I want the best stuff, just not two lifetimes' worth of it. But I would want to know that what I was using was a reasonable substitute.

Ok, so you have a FEL and backhoe. A fair number of grease fittings. IMHO, I would buy some premium name brand, one case, and you should be good for a couple years. I personally am using JD grease; there are several threads with recommendations, many from DieselPower who's in the business.

There are already a couple of good grease threads in the Oil, Fuel and Lubricants section. One of the more recent is titled Bulk Grease Choice.

Since you have a FEL and a BH I would highly recomend a Moly fortified grease. You also might consider buying your grease in a pail instead of in tubes. It's cheaper in pail quantity and you never have to change a grease cartridge again when you use a bulk loader pump.

I have read through every related thread in the last 15 pages of threads...I told you I was ****. I am interested in cartriges just because I can't see myself ever needing bulk grease. I was hoping I could find some people here to split a case of TRC cartridges with me.

Anyway, one thing I didn't get out of all that reading - would the savings for a pail offset the cost of the pump? No point in saving a few bucks on a single bucket which will last me a lifetime if that saving is offset by the cost of a pump. Know what I mean?
