1st time doing this and the manual is kind of vague. It mentions the bleeder screws and purging air. Is this all done by gravity? Do you need to crank engine at all? cold or warm engine? I would suppose prefilling the filter with fuel would lessen the volume of air entered. Enlighten me, any tips or tricks would be appreciated

All I know is that when I tried it I got fuel pouring all over the place. There is no cut off valve that I could find. I ended up putting a clamp on the hose to stop the flow. Changed the filter and no problems with bleeding air or screws. Actually, now that I think about it, I didnt'get it done. I just washed out the gunk and let it be. It was pretty clean.

so far I have never needed to bleed the fuel lines after a filter change. Might get some white smoke after change, but that is normal.

I would clamp with medical clamps or whatever and use that to stop the fuel to the filter (on the fuel line). Change filter, then remove clamp(s).

B7510 Operator's Manual states:

"When the fuel filter bowl has been removed, fuel stops flowing from the fuel tank. If the fuel tank is almost full, however, the fuel will flow back from the fuel return pipe to the filter. Before checking, make sure the fuel tank is less than half-full."

Don't know what model you have but might be a good idea to change filter with less than half tank of fuel.

I don't have the replacement filter yet, but is it wise to prefill with fuel before installing or not necessary?

On my L 2800 with the auto cut off. The fuel started flowing before I had screwed the bowl completely back on and by the time I had it tightened it was full. No air.

I never have. When you turn the key to on (not start) it should pump the fuel into the new filter.

On my BX or my last JD there was no way to fill the filter.
