By off-loading the box blade onto a simple mover's dolly, I am able to stand behind the tractor, slide one pin in, easily rotate to slide the other pin in, then attached the top link. I'm off and moving in no time at all. And when it is not in use, I can easily slide the whole thing against the wall.

Sounds easy with a dolly, wish I had enough storage space inside for that idea. Hooking up implements which are left outside is a whole 'nother story. First get out the weed wacker to clear around the implement, etc.

It seems all of my implements are a little different to, so an easy change might make matters worse. I get it lined up, then move or rock the tractor. The tractor being on wheels and all and in neutral ain't bad. I need to just get 1 link connected. then rock the tractor if needed to push/pull the other link in place.

The trick to my quick hitch (Carter & Son's) is that it's shaped like a J . That J lets the tractor move the implement. And you need a simple spreader for the 3PH arms to match the width of each implement. Mine are "prototypes" I build by cutting a 1"x1" to length and pounding a clipped 8p nail 3/4" from each end.

To hook up: put the spreader on the 3PH, back up to implement, raise the 3PH to match the implement's pins, if you're not lined up exactly back up a bit using the upright of the J to nudge the implement square, get the bottom hook of both Js under the implement pins, raise the 3PH.

For the Carter & Son's you need to get off and put in a pin to close off the bottom hook of the J. Pins are now trapped, pull the spreader, hook up the top link and the PTO.

To unhook, back up to storage spot, lower implement to ground, get off & take out pin closing J of quick hitch, disconnect top link, get on, lower 3PH and drive off.

Takes just a minute or two. Not perfect but so much better than lining up those %$#%$ holes in the 3PH. I plan to make a spreader for each implement out of some light 1" metal angle. When I get around to it.

Thanks for the detailed description. Those J hooks sound great. I will have to wait a little while. I've spent quite a bit more than my wife ever expected and need to sneak out of the dog house slowly and quietly for a while.

I bought the QH from Harbor Freight and have no problems at all hitching and unhitching:D

By off-loading the box blade onto a simple mover's dolly...

If you can post some images of your set-up, that'd be great. I like the sound of your arrangement.

Thanks,

I've got a Pats. Combine that with a newly added hydraulic top link and it takes me about two minutes to get an implement on and about 20 seconds to get one off.

My 3pt ams have turn buckles so that part is a bit irritating. I can't see how anyone could get away with a regular QH as I have to adjust the width of the lower links for some of my implements. I think that some amount of modification would be required to some.

I am rather happy with this setup. I do think that I will be changing turnbuckles to the other type that don't require a wrench to adjust the lower links like westbrooklawn did.
