Anybody built a shooting range?

I forgot to mention on the range berm I built with the FEL, that behind the berm was a little creek which was the property line and immediately behind that was a hill that rose at least 200 foot and was so steep you could not walk up it without grabbing trees to assist your climb.. I just didn't want the bullets falling on the other persons property even though they did not run any livestock or there was not habitation back there anyway. at the 25 yard line uprange from the berm was my gravel pad to shoot from to make it easier to find the brass and also it was shaded by 2 huge oak trees, and the pad did double duty as a picnic area, as I had built an outdoor brick grill and had a picnic table. Overall it was heck of a nice place to shoot! I really miss that place.

Im planning on constructing one this spring/summer. Theres a nice area thats a natural bowl on my property out back. Have to wait till spring to see what ill have to do to complete it. I am planning on also building a cabana/seating area. No rest for the wicked.

Yep, him or one of his relatives is in our freezer right now, but we didn't shoot him there. I don't normally hunt on our property, but we take a couple a year off so they don't get too thick. My wife, both sons, daughter in law and one grandson hunt, so we hunt as a group elsewhere and enjoy camping out together. We don't get many over there, but we enjoy the time in the woods and around the campfire.

We have a good place to shoot in the country and will let friends come and shoot if they want. Although it is all woods and vacant land behind our backstop I don't want anyone shooting here in such a manner that the the backstop can't stop the shot. It's irresponsible and not worth the risk. I had one gentleman come out that was so poor of a shot that he couldn't hit our backstop at 50 yards. Much less the target. In a very kind way I asked him not to come back.

Ha Ha, that is a good photo. We used to have both deer and turkey hanging around if front of our berm too!

I have just begun construction of two separate ranges on my place. One will be a 75 foot (25 yd) pistol range, the other is a 250ft rifle range. Could not get a full 100M range due to some trees im unwilling to cut down.

Post pictures with your progress, we built a couple on another farm and I couldn't believe how much dirt we had to move; lot more work than we anticipated.

ok, ill do that. i spent about 6 hours moving dirt. Have to drop about 6 trees andf pop root balls next. Then its off to pick up 64 used railroad ties.
