Sorry for not getting back to those who sent me PM'S. My motor went on and I've been busy trying to get up and running.

I am a new PT425 owner looking for attachments in or near Pennsylvania.
Thanks for any ideas.

Dear MossRoad,
i live in PA - feel free to add me to the PA list.
My PT425 is used with 34 hours on it and of course there is no manual.
I have a few questions and expect I will have many more. Would you mind giving me your opinion when you have time?
1st question - Given that it is all hydraulic, should I always run it full throttle or is it alright to just add more throttle under more load?
2nd question - I have lots of hills that I must work on in all directions. Would it be a problem to reverse the wheel mount on each wheel to give it a wider wheel stance?
3rd question - How full should i keep the oil tank? I do not see any markings or indicators.
Many thanks for you time and thanks for all the tractorbynet postings.
I will have many more questions but I used it half of the day today and love it!

Welcome. I can give you some answers to your questions, they might not be what others reply. I very seldom run mine at full throttle, except when mowing thick tall grass, I just run it at the speed needed to do the job. Power track does not recommend reversing the wheels it puts more strain on the wheel motors. The oil level in the hydraulic oil tank is about 3/4 inch showing on the dip stick. What part of Pa are you in? I am about 50 miles east of Pittsburgh.

I am in Port Matilda, just outside of State College. Do you still have the adapted tiller?
Thanks for the info, I have not run it full throttle and doubt I will need to.
Is it the wheel motor or the Wheel bearings PT is worried about?
I will check the oil again tomorrow morning.
Thanks for your help.

You are on the list. (that's what my 3rd grade teacher told me). :D

Full throttle - just remember it's an air cooled engine and it'll get max air cooling at full throttle. Also, you'll get better braking at full throttle, snappier hydraulic response, etc... I almost always run mine at full throttle. Why? Because I'm either mowing the lawn, hauling bucket loads of material, dragging firewood, brush cutting, plowing snow, or heading back to the barn at the end of the day, and want to get it done fast. ;)

Others don't. To each their own. ;) I suspect those that don't run theirs at full throttle will have their machine last longer. I beat the bajeebers out of mine regularly and expect to pay a price for that some day.

Reversing wheels for more stability - Some have done it. I wouldn't. PT says the wheel motors on the 425 aren't designed for the added side-load that would occur if you reversed the wheels, and will develop leaks and wear out faster. Is this true? I do not know. Maybe someone that has done it will pipe in.

How full should I keep the oil tank? - As ernemats mentioned, about 3/4" on the dipstick.

Here's a few other things you might know, but I'm gonna say anyway....

- Never tow the machine without engaging the bypass. Mine requires a bypass hose. Some just require a turn of a screw. Figure out which one you have now, just so you know where and how.

- Do you know how to bleed the hydraulics after every 50hr filter change? If not, ask. If so, use a zip-lock baggie around the filter as you remove it. Makes for much less cleanup in the tub.

What attachments do you have?

I still have an adapted flail (mott mower) listed in attachments for sale on tractor by net site

Thanks for the good advise. I will need to learn about blending the system. My neighbor works on some hydraulics and his dad has a larger PT so I expect I will get lesions soon. Both are great people.
Current attachments are: small bucket with teeth, large bucket, 48” finish mower (would rather have the brush cutter) small forks, snow/dirt plow with rubber edge, 60” rake and two quick-hitch plates waiting to be used. Looking for a utility grapple hook, boom pole, tiller and a few other attachments
