In open center hyd systems, all valves are in series, one valve feeding the next and so .

You did say the ports are the same, so it must be the spool size lands limiting the GPM.

In my opinion, if you want the protection of the PB part of the system, you would install the lift/wedge valve first, and the OUT of the log splitter valve would go to tank.

Any restrictions will increase the back pressure, but in your situation, I think not much.

Only way to know is to use the log splitter with no lift valve and measure the max pressure, then add the log lift valve is series and then measure the max pressure.

Well I posted what was on the Eaton site as to the port sizes. My LS 3000 valve has 3/4 pipe threads in and out and 1/2" pipe threads for work ports. This other valve has something else and I really don't know what exactly they are because I don't have anything around here that will screw into it. I guess I'll end up at a hydraulic shop somewhere to find out what they are. I guess that would be my best bet that way I can find out what the hoses will cost while I'm at it.

Thanks for the help on the 'T' use on an open center system. I think I understand what you are saying now and it makes sense.
