Anybody make a vehicle lift?

My brother has a lift in his Garage. It is absolutely the best thing since HOT coffee. I cant imagine working on a car without it. The only downside he built the garage before considering buying a lift. So he ended up cutting out the ceiling of the garage, removing most of the rafters just to get it in there. Then he had to go back and reinforce the new roof line. 60' Of 6" Thick wall square tubing and I dont think it is going to far.

But a lift, hmmm, I dont work on my cars much, but I dont think it would take long to pay for itself.

Yep taht's how I used to do it, well a small loader arm and forks instead of 2x4', but it's all the same.

When I was a kidd we had a pitt, I thought it was the coolest thing.
I've heard, that they have kinda been banned...
They can be very dangerous, the smaller ones with no where
to go, gas-oil= FIRE maybe even a BOOM!
I think the shops you see with pitts are more of a basement.
Unless you can find the metal CHEAP buying new or used
may be best? $1000-$2000 and you dont even have to paint it.
Also if your using it for a part time cash flow, it can also
be used to store your tractor up out of the way while parking

A lift is on my list.............

My work takes me to all the $300,000 and up neighborhoods.I was really impressed that all those folks were buying vechicles that didn't need a lift or pit to get under.Only later did I realize that if you handed one of these city folks a wrench...they'd try to hit a golf ball with it..... /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Next time you go to town check out the car lots as the ones around here are using a raised rack to show off cars. They are made of angle about 2x2 that tilt down as you drive foward the front pivots down until the car is sitting level about 4ft off ground.
