Re: anybody put a brushog rotary mower into a tru
I was looking at my pics and came across this one of my 5' brush hog loaded on top of a F350. It's not quite the situation you describe, but it does show a mower on a truck. The chains aren't on the tractor and load yet, and the backhoe isn't locked for transport. Notice the pallet that I have under the Bush Hog separating it from the Box Scraper. Having loaded Brush Hogs many times, I find the biggest thing to pay attention to isn't what to set it on as long as there is something to protect the truck and the mower, but to make sure that when I chain it to the loader to load, that I grab it at 3 points so that it doesn't swing around much. It does hang quite far out front of the tractor and if you're not careful it can put you off balance.
If I was loading into a smaller pickup, I would load at an angle. I would put 3 or 4 2x4's at an angle from the bed onto the side (with old towels or something to protect the paint) and I would lay a couple of 2x4's or 6's down so that the lower edge of the mower didn't hit the pickup side. Pallets would also work. Andy
