Anybody try installing an intermittant wiper control on their Toolcat?

Other than a tactical potato launcher, the thing I miss most on my Toolcat is a control that would allow to me to vary how often the wipers sweep the windshield. There are various aftermarket controls available for cars & pickups and I'm seriously thinking about trying one on my TC after this snow season. Has anybody here tried installing such a control on their TC?

I have not looked into it either but I share your interest (I'm referring to the intermittent wipers not the spud launcher). Doing the manual intermittent thing (turn em on, turn em off, turn em on, .....) gets old.

We have a storm going through here right now. Will be getting some seat time later today.

Great upgrade idea. Check out this .pdf for an intermittent rain sensing wiper control. One of our cars has this technology and it is very convenient. It simply sends infrared light into the windshield (mounted with the rear view mirror) and measures how much of the light returns. When rain distorts the far edge of the glass less light returns. Then it controls the wipers. Perhaps you could get a system out of a smashed up car and try it. Otherwise, there are <$20 options out there with a simple dial (rheostat) on them. Not certain if the motor on the Toolcat wipers is designed to be controlled for variable speed? Anybody an EE?

I have an intermitant wiper control installed on my newest TC. It is an after market unit that the dealer installed for me. I don't believe it was very expensive. If anyone is interested I can take a picture and get the manufacturers name. I think it has delay settings that run from 2 to 30 seconds.

If you could post the mfg (and pic if you get a chance), I for one would certainly appreciate it. I've found several kits that seem bent towards a generic install (cars, pickups), but that's sort of a hit and miss proposition.

Tried to get a picture tonight but it comes out way too dark. I will try tomorrow while I'm doing maintenance/prep for the next storm. I did try and find a manufacturers name (with a flashmight) but could not find one. The way it is mounted I may be able to see it thru the windshield during the day. I'll let you know what I find in the daylight.

I'm attaching a picture of the wiper delay unit. For the life of me I can't find a manufacturers name. I even removed the unit from the mount and still no name. It must have come with two "face stickers", one with the brand name, and one without. Hope this helps.
