Broke the mounts for the top hook off of the cross member. Replaced with 1/2" thick tube steel, going strong after several years

Was pulling Land's Pride Rock Rake, 43HP Kubota.

Not even with all 1,700lbs offset way to one side & snagging on 2" thick scrub oak.

I'm on my 4th or 5th QH. All were still working when they were given to friends or sold with previous machines. None of the various makes of QH have been any better than the rest, but I havent owned a nicer LandPride or JD iMatch (and dont see any big reason to pay double or triple for one). Current one is Harbor Freight, not that it matters.View attachment 562410
Update: I have a new QH. Don't remember the brand, but it was from my dealer & cheaper than the LandPride. It may be a bit sturdier than the HF class ones, or not. Only time will tell. This will be the first one I replaced due to wear or iminent failure.

My old QH hadn't failed, but I got tired of playing chicken with it. There were cracks from the lift pins through thee frame horizontal to the ground. Lift pin holes were a fair bit worn & bigger than they use to be as well. Ran it for a season after finding the cracks & wondering if I'd break before it did. It won.

No regrets working it hard or replacing it. I may get motivated to weld up the cracks & keep it as a spare. Or just keep it around un-repaired for who knows what. With my low welding skill & the worn holes it wasn't worth it for me to repair.

I probably overload mine everyday. I have a homemade dumping carryall used for manure. During the winter months a couple of times my employees overloaded it so much the 3pt couldn't lift it (L2501 should be good for 1800ish lbs?) and had to shovel some out to move the tractor. Never had a problem. If I did I'd probably run to HF to grab another one while I repaired the old so that I could swap them if it ever happened again.
