I want to crimp it so it will dry faster..... My thought is pictured below.... Pull behind the tractor, after cutting, to crimp the stalks....

We call that a stalk cutter. Used to crush and embed cornstalks so the corn rootworm wont survive over winter.

If you take a look at this video, and the roostertail of dirt that it throws up, you might want to reconsider crushing against the soil, instead of against a rubber roller...

DaveOmak, I am not taking sides with you or RickB, but ten, yes ten, different posters, have given you their opinion, and they are all negative. None have said anything positive. You asked for comments and have received them.

We have all had ideas and sometimes made prototypes of pieces of equipment that did not work for various reasons. My latest is a failure to use cage gears (which I make myself) to transfer the forward motion of a 2-row corn drill into the horisontal motion of the seed plates. The rest of the drill is fine, but without the seed plates it is useless. I need to think again.

most likely unless one has the parts Old crimper and a gear box and PTO shaft set up, you would have a hard time assembling some thing for the same cost, Might be worth some internet looking looking and a drive,

Had a similar experience to this about 3 years ago, 2 out of 3 replies were negative.

Evening folks...... Well someone said "I was impolite" and reported my post directed at RickB to the admins..... I thought RickB was rude, as were others.... RickB, If it was you that reported me, you are a true hooplehead.... Thanks again for the completely rude and arrogant comment about my alfalfa crop and my intelligence when it comes to farming.... I was asking the question about the conditioner so I wouldn't ruin it ...... I guess you didn't read that into the question I was posing......
