Has anyone built a pusher blade like this? I was going to restore/rebuild a 6.5 foot Meyer snow plow to fit my BX24 Kubota tractor:

Kubota Tractor Corporation - BX Series - BX24 Sub-Compact Tractors

Now that I have looked at a couple of push plows in person, I am leaning towards building one of these instead because it can put on and taken off in about a minute and if I have to pile up snow with the FEL, it is still mounted.

See this link for what I am talking about:

Avalanche by Ledex Industries : Box Plows for Loaders

Reply back with some pics if you have them!

Nothing more than a plow with end plates. Not sure how it would work, not shedding the snow like a conventional plow does.

My impression is that those snow pushers are more for pushing, stacking and piling up snow. I personally would rather not have those end-plates. I would rather just have a plow to dissipate snow off the road to the sides. I have approx. 350' driveway to clear as well as approx. 0.75 miles of private road. Sorry, I can't comment on building one.

The push plows look like they are designed for use on hard surfaces like parking lots. There are several parked in shopping malls here in Mid Michigan and used for that purpose. They are large and do the clearing job real quick and efficient.

The two main reasons I am going with a pusher box is so that I don't have to take off the FEL (not a big deal but I thought after heavy storms I may want to use it to stack some snow) and because I will be cleaning up about 4000 sqft of irregular driveway and parking spots.

No question a regular plow works best on long driveways, but with my smooth asphault drive, this seems like a more straight forward solution.

I just wish I could figure out a way to reverse the direction of the fan blade in the winter time to enjoy the benifits of the radiator's heat!

A conventional plow can also be used in conjunction with your FEL. In fact using a QA makes attachment to your FEL quick and pain free. As a bonus most plows have hydraulic angling to shed the snow to one side or the other.

Have you plowed snow yet with your BX24? If not, i suggest waiting till it snows and try using your FEL just like the large push plows.

Depending on the type of snow, I suspect your BX24 will stop in it's tracks in short order just pushing the snow in front of you. Your BX24, and most CUT's will simply run out of traction.

Remember that those snow box's are used on MUCH heavier machinery.

I push snow with a Kubota B2910 and both a loader and a front mounted Meyers 6' plow. With the loader I have pushed up to 2' of heavy snow with little effort.

The 24 is a smaller machine and hanging a heavy protech type pusher box way out in front may be problematic. a 6 or 7 ft pusher can end up with 2 or 3 thousand pounds of heavy snow in front of it pretty fast in a heavy wet storm.

It takes me 3 to 5 minutes to switch from my loader to my meyers plow.

Regards,
Chris
