Anyone burning off crancase drain oil in their tractors?

Yea, not for winter temps.

There are times when the tractor runs for hours sitting with the load on the pto.

Then I need to PAY to throw away the drain oil.

50 /50 seems rich. Burns clean?
Yes, it burns clean... I've run it in several diesels that I have, including my older tinker toy tractors, but I haven't put it in one of the new diesels of today.

Here's a story for you... When my dad was alive, he would sometimes buy things we really didn't need, like cooking oil. I guess he would forget that he already bought it.

Anyway, one day I was digging in a lower cabinet, cleaning it out and I found several open bottles of cooking oil and when I opened them, they smelled rancid.

Well, I took them all out and poured them into my Kubota diesel powered lawn mowers fuel tank and they nearly filled it. I mowed all of my grass two times running on near pure cooking oil and the mower ran great, you would never know what fuel I was using except for how the exhaust smelled.

I'd have no problem doing it again...

Have you ever looked at an injector that ran for a long time on cooking oil?

I have, and it’s not a pretty sight.

On a throw away engine, maybe, but not on one I wanted to rely on.

I just pour old oil on fence posts. I figure, I will save money on fuel later on having to go back and replace rotted post. It all works out in the end...

No need to, it's still starting/running perfectly...

It won’t be for long.

Like already said, an older indirect injection, less likely to harm it. I know a guy who sells us some supplies at work who has been running cooking oil in older 7.3 Ford pick ups for years. He doesn’t treat it, Just filters it. He also runs it in winter but it’s set up to start and warm up the cooking oil on diesel. He also ran used oil too but didn’t like it as well, said it was too messy. If you are just trying to get rid of it, I’d say go for it.
