Anyone dealt with bacterial meningitis (human)?

Hang in there. No clue about the actual issue (personal) other than when I heard one time that it was one possibility that my son had when we rushed him to the hospital, and I almost lost it (when I hear meningitis of ANY TYPE the only thing, I know is it's bad *****).

I will say a prayer tonight for your family if that means anything to you.

This sucks. I swear I have PTSD like issues from this. Things trigger me and I can't help but break down and cry.... Yet I know that we are winning. It's irrational, but I can't get control of it. I think that I may not be okay at the moment.

Almost loosing your wife is a traumatic thing for sure. She's 44 years old, I'm 49. I'm not prepared to deal with these kind of intense emotions at this stage of life. I think I broke something inside that might need some time to get healed. I don't like that because I know that I'm fine and I know that I don't deserve any pitty or soothing at a time like this.

Dang, I'm a lot weaker of a man than I suspected. I suck.

First you are not a weaker man than you thought. You nearly lost the love of your life and that would break any of us.

Second men are not good at this, but if you think you having PTSD or other psychological issues there is no shame in getting help. Three years ago I got hit by a semi at near highway speed. After I got back behind the wheel of a car I would have to pull over if there was a semi near me. Thankfully I went and got help. There is absolutely no shame in it.

I cannot imagine what shape I would be in if Mrs. The Man was going through what your wife is going through.

You cannot help her unless you also help yourself.

Thank you guys, and yes praying is a big deal. Our church prayer group as well as some co-workers churches have been sending prayers out for my baby.

Thank you all.

so the update for today is that the antibiotics that we were giving her which were the strongest and best antibiotics that pretty much man knows how to make, we have to stop giving her because her body has decided that it will not tolerate them anymore. So we will have to drop down and antibiotic power and see if we can run some other products through her to finish this off and keep her body tolerant. just a note I'm using voice to text while I'm driving to the hospital right now so there may be some errors, I apologize for that.
one of the two antibiotics that she is on is referred to as the antibiotic of last resort and our society. I guess it's like really strong and aggressive in your body can only take it so long and they kind of know that. but in a situation where you're going to be dead otherwise, they'll pull that silver bullet out and use it knowing that you'll likely never be able to tolerate that product again in your life. But at least you lived today. 20200106_181300.jpg20200104_201259.jpg

and before I get the typical tearing apart by those much more educated than me, the words that I am saying or as I interpret what the doctors are saying to me. I am not a doctor I am not a highly educated person. But I'm trying to ask questions listen and learn real fast. The way I understand it is that these antibiotics can be administered more safely and more tolerable to the human body in lower dosages. But because of the style of infection and how bad it was and how close she was they had to push the concentration in her blood up a lot higher than you normally would want to do as a doctor to try to get control of the organism in her fluids ever brain and get the pressure down before more damage or death occurred. So it's not like everyone that gets these drugs is going to become intolerant, it sounds like what the doctor is saying that what we had to do was push the levels up to near toxic love and hold them there while we fought the organism. So I'm sure there's going to be a couple doctors on here that might be able to explain better what I'm saying oh, I know there are educated people here do like we have a much deeper background in this type of information.

Just met with the floor/rounds doctor, she interfaces with my wife's infectious disease dude. She said that I misunderstood a bit, Dana is having a hypersensitive reaction to the drugs because of the amount they are pushing, but she's likely going to be fine if in years down the road she needs these products again. So she's not completely intolerant or immune to the drugs, but she can not take any more of it at this time because of the reaction and hypersensitivity. Does that make sense?
