Years ago I work for a UK company here in the US. Quite a few Brits came over here to work as well as from other European countries. Since they flew over they only had what was in their suitcases. One of my coworkers needed some furniture so I sold him a whole bunch for just about nothing.
He gave me a bottle of Glenlivet as a thank you. I drink a bit every once in awhile. Different bottle of course.

Roughly a 1 to 1 mixture with spring water.

Ok it is water filtered in the fridge from my well but that is spring water!

I do have some other single malts, I think a Black Label, that I like but it is not JW.
We don't really like wine that much. Just a two that I can think of but we don't drink them much. I like some cheap wine and I like some expensive wine. Money does not seem to matter regarding what I like or dislike....
Years ago my parents were in Portugal for a month or so. In Oporto.

Which is in a major port producing region.

They started drinking Port. One of their stories from Oporto was going out to eat and another party ordered a very expensive bottle of Port. The waiter DROPPED the bottle on the floor and it broke. The wait staff got down on the floor with straws and sucked it up.
I started trying Port back here in the US. I tried a $5 bottle which was not very good.

Eventually I worked my way up the price tree and found I really liked $30-40 bottles.

I don't drink it much....
Years ago I used to buy my father a $30-50 bottle of Vintage port for his birthday, fathers day, etc. He would drink some and keep others. This past Christmas he brought up one of the bottles that I bought for $50 back in the 80's.
We figured the bottle was likely worth a few hundred dollars and did we really want to drink it?

We opened the bottle and drank it.

Let me tell you it was the
best booze we have ever tasted. My wifey did some research and figured that the bottle at retail was in the $300-500 range.

We figured a small glass as about $25.

Investing in vintage port might be better than the stock market.....
One night we were finishing up the bottle. It lasted three nights. The wifey knocked over her glass!

She spilled it on an end table.
She got out a straw......
