Ive been collecting them but I find quality different even in the most expensive brands. Its a fine line between what you pay, the warranty and replacement costs. I am collecting tools because I can at this point. The most expensive so far is my tractor, second most expensive is my Milwaukee Force Logic M12 crimper.

My tools are in tool boxes, nothing is hung up.

I should have been more specific. My oil filter wrenches hang on nails. (That was the roving subject at the time.) Everything else is "mostly" in tool boxes. All eleven of them. Some tools are just too big to fit or don't rank drawer space. Oil wrenches, pipe wrenches and chain wrenches are among those.

Your schedule really belongs to you now. You can enjoy it however it suits you best.
25centscore,
I worked 28 years with a headlight on my head. In retirement, I'm gonna try NOT to wear a headlight. If I wanna get things done outside, day light kinda dictates my schedule.

I do enjoy working hard, then sitting down at sundown and taking in what God has allowed me to do. Instead of having to rush to work. Sundown over the pond is way more awe inspiring then sundown over Hobby airport.

I am looking forward to this winter, when I can get a lot of welding projects done without stopping for the workweek.
hugs, Brandi

cdaigle430,
I consider tractors as equipment. So does my tax guy. But I call my trator my therapist.

As to your M12 Crimper, just what all does it crimp? Water pipe? Gas pipe?

By this time of year I'm "almost" looking forward to Winter. Since early Spring I've been doing outdoor projects. I'm ready to spend a couple months in the shop. I'm Blessed with a warm shop. Well,,, I'm Blessed with a very good life.

It'll take you a few months to adjust to retirement. Just let it happen.

I rarely know what day of the week it is. Can guess the month by the weather. Absolutely can't believe it's almost the end of 2020. I retired nine years ago. Or yesterday. I get that confused...... :)

Tools and receipts a quick story.

A few years ago my shop was broken into and I went to put a claim in with my insurance company. They said sure you're covered, but you do know your policy says you need to provide us with the original receipts.

I had toos that went back 20 plus years including as I remember the first tool I ever purchased when I was 16 years old with my first ever credit card. It was a sears credit card and I purchased a claw hammer. Twenty plus years later I still had it and she treated me well.

I swear I saw a small smile on the insurance adjuster when he informed me about the receipts. He explained that I could send hum the list of tools any time.

Although he may have been smiling I was laughing inside my hear because this adjuster doesn't know my wife.

I know the adjuster was expecting a list of around $1,000.00 which was my deductable. You see, my wife is an organizational freak. Later that week I sent him an alphabetized excel list with $24,000 in tools missing with attached receipts for every tool.

I didn't have the receipt for my first hammer, but I made out ok.

I have one of those organized wives. She can always pull out a receipt and invoice for just about anything.

I lost my shop in a fire. I had to provide a list of contents lost and an estimate of what I paid for each. No receipts required. Then the adjuster took my list and shopped for replacement costs. $194,000 claim.

I think a fire is kinda different from a theft, in that they can find the melted/burnt items in a fire VS no trace in a theft. In a theft, there's not even a hint they were there except for the empty spaces they once occupied.
