I was moving firewood logs to my bucking area and discovered a small oil splash on the right front tire and looked for the source only to discover the dipstick seems to have vanished. I've never heard of such. Have you?

Now I'm searching dealers (none are really local now since my dealer stopped dealing them) to find one.

If anyone has a suggestion for an online dealer, please let me know.

If anyone has a solid (or colorful) theory on How/Who/Why my dipstick vanished.

But please don't bother with the "lost dipstick" jokes, I think my son has hit me with all of them already.

Happy Friday and Awesome 2018 to all TBN'ers!

Be well,
David

Wonder if blade broke off below the bellow/sleeve where it fits on the tube and fell inside, the top falling off on the ground..............Mike

If broken inside... I had that happen on a Nissan Sentra one time. Shop Vacuumed it out. Went really easy.

Does the engine have a crankcase breather system that could be blocked or frozen? I had a Fiat that would freeze the crankcase in cold weather and blow the dipstick out.

My bet is that it got snagged by a stick or branch... and is laying somewhere. I don't think Alien spacecraft use oil... so they would not probably have lifted it to go to their interstellar home... Or maybe in a senior moment, you checked the oil but forgot to put it back....going for a rag or something... [ or had to pee ] :)

I blew mine out into the driveway once. This is how I did it. I put a #8 machine screw into the rubber breather tube to stop it up so I could change the hydraulic filter without losing much fluid. It works great. Very little fluid, lost. Then like an idiot I forgot to remove the screw before I fired her up and moved the loader cylinders. As you lower the FEL, Air must exit the breather tube.. Whoops it is stopped up, so the dipstick was the next weak link, and it went flying. I picked up up and wiped it off, inserted, and went forth to sin no more. :)

Whoops, I read your post again, and I guess you have lost the ENGINE OIL dipstick. Sorry. I am guessing a friendly branch helped you out there. As it sets down pretty low below the hood so you can check it without opening the hood.
