Any craftsman or MTD brand riding mower I have ever owned couldn't last a season with out breaking a spindle or bending a blade. Theres no way in hell I'm going to spend time making one into a "brush mower" theh can hardly stay together mowing grass.

Europe has 'high grass' mower decks that mount under lawn tractors. Essentially, their front and back are open like a rotary cutter. Would be easy to fabricate.

Someone on here years back had an older commercial Zero Turn converted to large tires that could mow 12" and down to 6". I can't find the thread now.

There was a guy locally who cut out the side of his push mower so it could get rid of brush better. When hitting a stump, the blade broke off which took his foot from underneath him.

Theres a reason for bush hogs and flail mowers....
