As for wearing my seatbelt, it really depends. If I am going to be staying strictly on flat ground, I.E. boxblading my driveway.. then no I won't wear it usually. But if I am going to be doing any work on any hills whatsoever, then yes it's on.

Hey it only 1 belt with a quick release.

At least it's not a RESTRAINT CHAIR!

I've done all of those with and without the belt on. Long legs apparently.
My best was last winter getting the hem of my coat hooked on the FEL joystick while jumping off the beast... bent the holy crap out of. First major repair because of my long heavy winter coat! I now have the habit of only getting on/off of it on the other side now.

Same here. My coat got caught on the FEL joystick a couple of times. Luckily I have not bent the it. I got in the habit of stepping on the steering wheel tilt lever to release the steering wheel forward before getting out otherwise my leg or coat may hit the FEL joystick when I get out on the right side.

Treat the tractor like a horse, and only enter/exit from the left side. I broke off the turn signal indicator arm on my Dk-35, which sticks out into the air in a place that makes no sense to me from the design of a tractor console POV.
I've caught all kinds of stuff on the fel joy stick too.
It may be that the Korean engineers, being somewhat shorter than us Americans/Canadians, and many other westerners, design things from their particular perspective, ergonomically speaking, and consequently we are at the mercy of their designs.
I too have hit the key off numerous times.
While on the subject of design issues, or lack thereof it drives me crazy that the seat can't fold over onto the steering wheel to allow for rain and snow shedding! And that the lights for the switches aren't on unless in use. I'm going to add some LEDs to light up the two switch pads so one can see the 4x4 and hazard switches, and the PTO and cruise switches on the right side mini console. I think I will have to add them to the side of the console housing on left and right, but not sure of the layout yet.
One last peeve; if the hst pedals were farther apart, then with winter boots on it would be less likely to hit both or the wrong one due to their spacing. Anyone else experience this?

Hi guys!
First thing first....MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

I've got 86+ hrs so far (since May this yr) and a couple hrs now in the snow. "Knock on wood" but I have yet to accidentally turn off the tractor or switch it out of 4wd. I'm 6'3" and 270ish??? (the ergonomics of the DK series really helped in my decision process!!!!!) Though I'm in a safety related field, I will admit that I too don't always wear my safety belt....but I do now since watching the rollover videos of tractors a month or two ago!!!!!

Coyote Machine, I agree with your assessments! I would love to sit down w/ Kioti/Daedong engineers and tell/show them how to improve on their product..heck, even make some factory upgrade kits for us owners while their at it!!!! Please post pics of your dash light project......just wondering if a red or amber LED light out each side of the steering column housing would work??? Maybe put a shroud around it to keep the light focused down on the switches and not up and into operator's eyes???? Just an idea....

We're expecting 1"-3" inches here in the Cincinnati area tonight. Sure would be a nice Christmas present to get up in the morning and have to spend some time with my "Mistress" (that's the affectionate name my wife has given to our Kioti) to get the driveway ready for the afternoon family get together!!?? Well, I've been helping 4 neighbors w/ their snow removal so I'd have to help them too, right??!!

Again, MERRY CHRISTMAS to your and your families! May you all have a blessed day.

Plan to use a green light, 12 volt led, std from Radio Shack. Bought a couple of mounting project boxes and some Velcro type strips to attach the mini project boxes if necessary. I am still thinking about where the best mounting location to provide light w/out blinding the OP.

Wow, all of you are tall. I'm 5'10-6' depending on whether or not I'm wearing shoes. I too have turned the tractor off by banging the key, and have accidently knocked it out of 4WD. I don't think it is a height issue, but it may be more of a weight issue coupled with a seat adjustment issue.

My seat allows me to adjust it for weight, as I am sure almost all of yours do. I don't want to ride a pogo stick, so I set it so that I am not continuously bouncing. I think the bounce factor plus the adjustment front to back on the seat, allows people to knee the key.

Two changes I would make to the tractor besides the obvious one Coyote Machine made about the pedals and signals is the stupid step to get on the tractor. Not wide or deep enough and it feels chincy (if that is how you spell it). It has held up for 3+ years, and has handled my fat but many times, but I can't help but think that one time I am gonna have my chin hit the operator deck when it breaks. I don't weld so I can't really improve it. I would also like to scrape my muddy boots off on it before i am putting them on the pedals.

I too always mount from the left side of the tractor, and find it odd when I try to get on from the right side. Just doesn't seem easy. I'm guessing the people with cabs think were nuts.

As PA Hayseed pointed out, I have my seat all the way back and it is set for a higher weight.

P.S. Only got a dusting of snow for Christmas!!:(

Another good reason for left side mount only is the fuel pedal, I stepped on mine last night for the first time as I climbed off.
