Anyone ever used a miniature excavator?

I thought I would need 8 cubic yards of concrete, I ended up needing 10!

This is a much more common thing than many people realize. Even if there is not wet sand under the form. An engineer I know who worked for a big concrete form company told me that even though they know exactly how much concrete their forms hold, they were frequently needing extra.

Not that he thought the pre-mix places were shorting them on the measurements or anything, just that it was an interesting problem. And not once ever did they have any left over...

I used a mini this past week. It was funner than a 5th string on a banjo! It took a while to get used too but I dug my hole nearly perfectly sideways to the rest of the world... so then I dugger out a bit more. It was 62 deep, 67 wide and 95 length, so I gotta play a bit more. I used by B7500 to back fill when I was done. Sorry no pics.

Then I dug me a couple ditches and my brother dug himself one too!

It was both the first time we'd run minis. He'd used a Terramite on several occasions and actually liked the way it digs better. Myself, I need to find out why I need another day I can rent one /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It took a bit getting used too, but then I'd go to town like I'd did it for days and then I'd lose my mind and train of thought for a few minutes and loose my rhythm. Very fun.

I had one like pictured earlier. It had a little slop in the controls and jittered/jumped some when lifting a bucket of dirt or turning with a bucket of dirt.

Looks like I'll be using another very soon! Used a ditch witch all day Saturday and have a couple spots to finish up.

I have a gas line I had to work around, but it's now exactly marked. I stopped well ahead of where the gas line is located and dug and dug and dug with a shovel... I'm almost positive I'm right over top the line with have shoveled 18-24" ditch, but I ain't taking a chance of digging anymore until I have it marked.

Oh... I have a 12" culvert that I need to run my waterline under so that 4' ditch needs a bit wider so I can get in there and tunnel under it to feed the waterline thru.
