Regarding animal names.....

I used to work with a guy many moons ago who lived on a lake and for some strange reason wanted ducks. This was not hit lake his house just shared it with quite a few other homes. So he buys a boy and girl duck and lets them go.

Well this is in FLA and a gator got the boy duck and a leg from the girl duck. The girl duck survived but I'm not sure how she swam...

Anywho, he named her Ilean. :D

Later,
Dan.

Well, personally would have adjusted the cut on the chainsaw. But would have to agree they are very very cute like most babies or mom would throw them back.

Maybe not popular but have seen way too many of these guys running around causing havoc. If they stay in the woods, fine, that is where they belong. Do not even get me started on porcupines and rabid possums.

When I was a kid we used to end up with racoon pets all the time -- nice when young but a lot of bad habits when older -- leave them in a box and see if momma comes back, or if your local wildlife control will take them and give them rabies vaccine do that:eek:. Usually not legal to keep wildlife as pets anymore and some PITA is likely to report you
Or ... make a hat:p (kidding)

Some states allow them as pets, some you need permits, some you can't touch them . . . but allow you to shoot them, go figure.

I would leave them in the tree, the mother will be back to get them eventually.

Fell a tree once that had a squirrel nest in it. My golden brought me 3 baby squirrels, no fur yet. Must have been really young. One female lived and had the run of the house for a year. Put her outside but she would not leave. Have you ever had a full grown squirrel land on your back from the top of the barn? Its like a bench of needles, ouch! She finally left and even brought back her young but they were wild. She returned often for nuts for three years.

Checked this am. Only 1 baby left. Mom must be taking 1 at a time out of the tree. I'll check in the am to see if the last is gone

I have never cut down a tree with animals inside it yet, but a couple of years ago while helping a friend and his wife clear some land for a house and pond, we happened upon this one tree. Weirdest thing we've ever seen. When we cut it down, water was flowing out of the stump. Not just oozing like sap might ordinarily do, but actually flowing at a pretty decent rate. That continued for a few days if I remember right. I wish we would have had some video of that, it was neat.
