Anyone familar with Sherwood Forest Resort in Tennessee?

On the NC side, I have stayed at a nice place with cabins. There are plenty of places in the south western parts of NC where you will not see many people. Standing Indian campground is one of them. One of the creeks at Standing Indian is mentioned in the Foxfire books in a section regarding "Painters." A man was followed by a mountain lion down one of the creeks that has a path that goes to a gap to meet the AT.

I would think there would be quite a few places to visit on the TN side if you stay away from the big tourist places. Fontana Lake and Dam are interesting to see in NC. It is the tallest dam east of the Mississippi. Very impressive.

As long as you don't go in the late fall when the leaves are turning I think you will enjoy it. There are plent of other small towns other than PidgeonForge to stay. They just don't get the advertisement. Where ever you decide to stay look at the satelite view on Google maps. The campground I stayed at had pics of beatifull campground right next to the mountains. When I got there it was in town.
