Anyone finish mow with a LS xj2025h?

Just an FYI. If you use an LS frame mount backhoe on the XJ 2025, you won't want a MMM. The hoe goes on an off fairly easily but the subframe mounts will interfere with the use of the MMM and it would be a pain in the butt to take them on and off all the time. Not a problem for me since I think a dedicated lawn mower is the way to go.....

I think that's the only problem I can find on the XJ 2025h. 🏻

Yes, MMM and RFM cut differently and disperse clippings differently. A RFM follows ground contours better, but does not leave a manicured cut like the MMM side discharge. A MMM cuts grass like a zero turn, it will stripe, and it does leave a professional level cut...but it does not follow ground contours. If you dont want a perfect yard, RFM is fine. If you want zero turn cut quality, a MMM is the ONLY way to go.
I'll put my finish mower up against a MMM. It leaves a fantastic finish. In higher grass it is even better cut because it is rear discharge.

I really like the XJ so far. I run a 4' brush hog through heavy stuff with no problems. I can't imagine that a 6' or maybe even 7' 3pt finish mower would be a problem. You can get one for about half the price that LS wants for a MMM.

It may leave a nice finish, but it will not leave a finish like a professional level zero turn which has a side discharge mid mount deck (same as the SCUT tractors). A MMM often has a deeper deck which has more suction to suck the grass up and mulch it several times before it discharges. MMM's will also leave striping in the grass, which is often the mark of a professional level cut.

A MMM does things that a RFM *wont* do, there is a reason you dont see most professional equipment as a rear discharge.

If a professional level cut was the idea, then you probably aren't using a tractor.

I know this is an old thread, but I was searching and came across it. I have a J2030h with mmm deck. I'm looking to get a rfm.

MMM cons.
1. scalps
2. only raises like 4", too short to mow my clover plots without taking them right down to nothing.
3. changing directions the front wheels will tear chunks of lawn up as they turn sideways to swivel other direction.
4. It does not stripe like indicated in this thread. I believe the fancy mowers have a roller that lays the grass down directionally, has nothing to do with discharge location.
5. pain in the rear to remove/install it.
6. Locked in up position its not high enough to go work ground with 3pnt attachments(see number 5).
7. bump something with the deck and the support arms bend, they are designed to bend. Back to the shop to remove and hammer the bars straight.
8. I don't cut my lawn every day, so when I do I lift the rubber flap so its not dumping the clippings straight down. This leads to throwing them over and over into the next path so it affects next cut.
9. Doesn't cut well backing up, definitely a directional mower. On short areas I like to cut in reverse so I can save time.
10. Cant cut up to low branched trees like apples. You can only get as close as you dare to get hit by branches.

pro's
1. Not sure, only had it like 5yrs and never had a rfm to compare

New to the forum (yesterday) and know this is an old thread and it's mostly talking about rfm or mmm. My question is does this machine have enough power to mow grass? Normal hieght, maybe a little talk at times. I've heard it may bog down a little in high range.

It has more than enough power to mow with 5' rear finish mower or brush hog through heavy stuff. I have a friend that bought his xj after seeing mine and uses a 6' rear finish mower without problems. As far as mowing in high range, I don't do it as the ground speed is too high to get a decent cut. I mow a 4 acre field maybe once or twice a year, about a mile of trails and an acre of lawn. As far as lawn mowing goes, I normally use a small Husqvarna rider unless it gets too high for it.

Thanks DaveNJ, just what I wanted to hear. I'm guessing low range isn't to slow then. Thanks again.
