Anyone go to the movies?

I've gone twice in the last year and a half. When I do go, I avoid the lines by buying my ticket early, either electronically online, at the theater, or just swing by right after they open up and walk up to the empty window.

We don't go to a "hit" movie showing for at least a month. You'll usually have most of the theater to yourself by then. Also, we try and go during the week, during the middle of the day, right after the theater opens and before school lets out. (If the movie is presumably that good to get me there, I don't mind taking some personal time off work to see it).

My wife takes a large purse into the theater. Lots of snicker bars, milk duds, popcorn brought from the house and in gallon ziplock bags. Sodas...well, we bring them in also. I just can't see spending 20 bucks for two small buckets of butter-on-top-only popcorn and a couple soda's.

Cell phones in theaters, babies in theaters, should not be allowed. I think it should be grounds for immediate removal if caught with a ringing cell phone, or if you are talking on it during a movie. This is no more a violation of your first amendment rights than you not being legally allowed to shout "fire" in a theater if there isn't one... When I go to a movie, I want to hear the movie, not a cell phone conversation (usually teenyboppers) or a baby crying.

Jeesh Sigarms, I could rant about theaters with you until my lips fell off. But, I do enjoy the "movie" experience when it's a good one.

Podunk

Edit: I just went back and read Eddie's post. That is disgusting, but makes perfect sense...people run out in the middle of the movie to go to the jon, do business (1 or 2) and haul butt (pun intended) back out to their seat...

My wife carries a bottle of the liquid hand sanitizer everywhere she goes. I use it a lot, especially in public places. I will remember this thread next time we're in a theater!

The Harry Potter movie released last summer was the FIRST movie the wife and I have seen togather. :D We like the Potter movies and the oldest daughter wanted to see the movie so we went on a weekday early showing. This is the first movie theater I have been in since the early mid 90's.

Don't see much reason to go back either. For what it cost to see the movie we could buy the DVD a couple times over and watch it when we wanted. And take breaks when we wanted.

I thought the crappy sound from sat/cable was the broadcasters fault. The loud levels of sound in the theater is unreal. It hurt.

Popcorn was horrible and of course everything is beyond overpriced.

The seats where very nice high back rockers on a very steep incline. A very tall person would have to sit in front of you to block the movie.

The couch is more comfortable.

The only reason we will go back is if the kids really drag us back. Maybe the next Potter movie. Maybe.

After years of wanting we finally bought a new PC for home. This one has a TV card and software that allows the PC to act as a DVR. Real nice. Only burned a few shows onto DVDs but so far it works.

I'm sure I'll start recording our favorite movies which are almost always OLD movies since not many movies are that interesting to us. Can't wait for The Quiet Man to be played again. :D

Later,
Dan
Really very informative and good idea so keep doing best thanks!
