Anyone going to buy stocks now?

You can look at on line brokers like scwabb, e-Trade, ameritrade, etc. etc.

You can even buy on margin if you have the gumption for it. My best day-trading was during the dot com run up. Made a lot of money, lost a lot too. Went back to more of a long term approach. Found a long term financial analyst, had them look over my 401k too.

Stocks are on sale now, I haven't invested money for at least 8 yrs. but just did this week... Also don't invest money you can't afford to lose..

Hate looking at 401K because it has lost 40% to date and am supposed to be planning on retiring in about three years but we will see when the time comes... Will only be 54 then which doesn't put me to close to S.S.

It is also worth noting that Warren Buffett recommends index funds for most investors. So to me, he is saying buy American stocks now, use low cost index funds and expect to hold them for the long term.

"A very low-cost index is going to beat a majority of the amateur-managed money or professionally-managed money," Buffett said at a press conference, a day after the annual shareholder meeting for his Berkshire Hathaway Inc.
