Anyone have a MechMaxx 3-pt stump grinder?

I've got 20 acres that is mostly trees. I'll be dealing with stumps for the rest of my life.

I have the original WM. It works well and as expected. That said, it's easy to try pulling it through the stump faster than the grinding wheel can chew, which results in the unit swinging from grinding at 90 degrees to more like 70 degrees. One time early on, I angled it sufficiently to separate the PTO shaft...and guarantee you'll only allow that to happen once!!!

Based on similar design, I'm guessing over feeding is likely a common situation to avoid with the MM also.

I would have paid the extra for the WM pro version if it had been available at the time, not even knowing if the shock actually works as described.

The other thing is the outside teeth get the most abuse. I wouldn't even mount the 6 or 8 (?) teeth closest to the hub, and just save them to swap as the outside teeth get chipped down (my stumps are rock magnets!).

Tighten up your 3-pt lift arms, playboy!

But yeah I always go to low range and barely touch the HST pedal, certainly easy to over-pull it and start bouncing around.

And agreed, those interior teeth will never see any action, kind of odd to have them at all.

I made mine out of 1/2" plate, 3/4" for the wheel, it doesn't bounce around.

I can't even hold my phone as steady as it is.

Good looking welds!

Although, I'm not sure that qualifies as a stump!

We're did you find your (carbide?) teeth?

I bought the pro version for my 4410. As far as I'm concerned the shock could use a heavier spring. It does help but could be more aggressive. It's probably ok for a smaller tractor. One day I will play around with some extra springs and see what happens.
