Anyone have a new 5.0 F150?

Not looking at an ecoboost. Looking for a long bed truck to replace my 2500 Chevy with most likely ecoboost isn't an option. Or I'll get it off auction and it would be a 3.7 or 5.0.

Your post is a little confusing. It sounds like you think the ecoboost isn't an offered in the configuration you want. Just wanted to clarify that it is an option. Maybe you already knew that. I don't believe you can get the max payload with the 3.7 liter if you are expecting higher payload numbers similar to your 2500 Chevy.

I'd probably end up with the 5.0 is why I asked in the OP. I'll probably get one used, white long bed and ext cab if I can find one but most likely not. Just something to replace my chevy with. $13,000 truck is what I'm budgeting, something I can put dents and scratches in and not worry about.


I've never seen a regular cab in an ecoboost and not gonna hold out for one. Probably end up getting this truck mid this year coming up. 2011 model year.

I'd probably end up with the 5.0 is why I asked in the OP. I'll probably get one used, white long bed and ext cab if I can find one but most likely not. Just something to replace my chevy with. $13,000 truck is what I'm budgeting, something I can put dents and scratches in and not worry about.

You will get better mileage with the 150 since you would be replacing 6.0 with 5.0 but if you think "Seeing if I get a long bed F150 it can haul a good bit of weight" I feel you will disappointed if you are trying to replace the 2500. Unless you find one of the rare 150 HD's (not available with V6) there is no way it will come close to the load capacity of a 2500. Everything will be lighter, brakes, rear axle, suspension, etc. You can throw 2 tons in a 2500 bed and it will get by for occasional use; I wouldn't try that with an F150, maybe 1 ton at most.

All true...I put 2,000# in the bed of my 1/2 ton GMC a few times a year..I doesn't squat as bad as I would have thought but I wouldn't want to do that every day for the truck's sake.

I've got another 3/4 ton truck for heavy hauling. I'm trying to keep it nice so I don't take it to work much though.
