Anybody attend any of their High School Reunions...?
Anyone have any thoughts on attending a High School reunion

I did my 30th and 35th. I went by myself. Wife had no desire to go w/me because she would not know anyone since we grew up in different states. Both times it was fun but 2 was enough for me. But she drug me along to hers because she didn't want to travel that far alone.

I went to my 20 year. It was good, even though I still lived in the same area I hadn't seen or interacted with most of the people there. My 30 year is coming up in August, I am very much looking forward to it. Because of Facebook I feel more connected to people than I even did in HS.

I attended an 8th grade class reunion...it was a hoot.

I took my wife with me from Florida to California for the 40th. After dinner, we left, and I remarked to my wife, "Why did we come?" Saw only about 4 people I had known out of a class of 864; and of those, only one I had actually known during high school. One girl I had been in 5th grade with had lost her husband a couple of years earlier. In front of my wife, she told me, "If I had known you would grow so tall, I could have really gone for you!" Not a memorable night at all.

Went to 20th and it was okay ... 50th coming up next year but if they have it, think I'll skip it and wait for 100th

The exact same sentiments here. In my opinion, Class Reunions only breed a source of gossip, ridicule, and fake conversations. Most people talk about what everyone became later in their Adult Lives. The more prosperous ones like Doctors, Lawyers, and successful Business People will still look DOWN upon the COMMON FOLKS. I will agree that there are moments when Memories are rekindled, but I really think that the Negative results outweigh the Positive results. Just My thoughts.

Funny story. We had a 5 year, 10 year and then 25 year. I've had some medical issues since I was 10 years old. Managed to go to college get a degree and a job. But I live about 400 miles from home now. Well lost touch with most of the people I knew in high school. For the 25th someone got a hold Mom and she contacted me and I decided to show up. It was a held at a bowling hall and restaurant. I figured it'd be at the restaurant so I entered there. It was already closed for the evening, so I'm standing there looking lost and someone comes and asks if they could help. Well come to find out it was an old classmate and once I told her who I was she turn white as a ghost. Seems the rumors around town was that I had died years ago. Pretty funny cause all evening long any of the locals would come up and say I heard you had died.

I have never attended a class reunion, and don't believe I'd begin now!
Besides, most of them will be OLD, and since I am not, why make them feel badly? :laughing:

I may be able to match that. I wasn't really close to many people in high school, and kept in touch with only a few. About four years after graduation, a guy with the same first and last name as mine shot and killed his wife, (whose first name was the same as my wife's) in a night club I had gone to a few times. It happened on a week-end, and made the front page of the morning paper (Cleveland). No picture. When I walked into work on Monday morning, you could have heard a pin drop (I hadn't seen the paper).
I've never been invited to a reunion.

Been 45 years and haven't been to one yet and likely most of the folks are old and ugly now or dead, so I guess I will never know what happened to any of them. When I do go back to childhood home it is just to visit my 2 sisters, one of whom lives only 1/2 mile from the old home place. I don't know where anyone lives from my class anyway as most everyone left town as soon as they could after graduation.

I went to my 20th, not very interesting or fun. My 40th is coming up, don't think I will go. Any of my friends from HS... I am still friends with and see on a regular basis. I can't think of anybody from HS that I care to see so I don't really see any reason for going.

well i have a very good reason not to go to the reunions i didn't finnish school, but the wife did and she has never had any desire to go to a class reunion. the people that get it together are the people who thought they were better than everyone elce in school so she say's i didn't like them people then and i still don't like them.and all this was over 30 some years ago.
