Anyone have experience or have used these arc welders?

I mentioned in my backhoe thread that I was gonna purchase a lincoln welder. But that may be some time before I can scrounge up the money for it and I really need to get my backhoe working to replace a water line that I don't thinks gonna hold up for very long.

Anyway I was looking on ebay and this welder caught my eye. It's portable, runs on either 110V or 220V and has a range of 200 amps.

The price ain't to bad either $138.95 and that includes shipping. The question is has anyone used these welders? Any reviews on them?

This welder is more in my price range and cost's around $38.00 more than my campbell hausfeld welder. I gave $100.00 for it at walmart.

It's still working somewhat, but only for really light gauge metal.

I'm still gonna get the lincoln sometime later. But for now this is about what I can afford.

I've gotta believe you would be far ahead with a used Lincoln tombstone or similar off Craigslist for the same money.

I would vote for a used Lincoln tombstone. I think you would have a much better welder. The duty cycle on that welder is only 10% which means very light windings, you could only weld 6 min every hour. If my math is correct.

i agree.. used lincoln tombstone or even a hobart.. they go cheap at yard sales and such..

money ahead.. and likely never have to repalce it.

I love my hobart ac buzzbox..235 amps of crackling power..

Yeah, that's not much of a duty cycle. I looked at my campbell hausfeld welder just a little bit ago and it's rated at 10% at 70 amps and 20% at 50 amps.

So I'm assuming the duty cycle times gonna be close to my current welder. Which would be okay for the moment. As I don't usually exceed it anyway.

And when I do exceed it, It usually kicks back in, in about 15 to 20 minutes. And then lets me go back to welding. I usually get to doing something else anyway while it's cooling.

I think I'm gonna go ahead and buy it and use it to get the welds done on the backhoe.

Then I'll still get the lincoln sometime down the road, and leave it at the shop. And keep the cheapo welder here at the house.

I've looked on Craigslist and didn't find anything near me. Ebay had some used lincolns but by the time I had a used lincoln welder shipped I'd be better off just buying a new one.

Thanks. Yep that's only around 30 miles from where I live. I go through that town quite a bit.

Hopefully someone else won't buy it and I can get it by Monday.
