Anyone have some insight on the L30 series vs the L40 series?

I honestly don't notice much of a difference with the dial. Maybe my dial is broken.

There's a big difference from high to low. Good chance it's not functioning. On high mine is very abrupt. On low mine glides maybe a couple feet.
