Anyone have the electronic chute on a landpride snowblower?

Chim, looks great. I like how you mounted the linear actuator upside down to stop water infiltration. Still have to motorize my deflector, what make, where did you purchase and are you happy with that actuator?

How much throw on you actuator? 4 inches? Looks like you did a fine job mounting to stop the actuator for pivoting and not pushing. I want to keep the factory gears on my chute so I think the cable idea is out for me. Nice looking setup.

It is a 4" throw and moves the deflector from straight up to its lower limit. The upside down idea was one I picked up from another guy's project. I forget where the actuator came from but think it may have been here:

Linear Actuator 4" Heavy Duty Stroke 225 Pound Max Lift 12V DC 4 inch | AE-Power

It wasn't very expensive and has built-in protection to keep it from driving too far in either direction. I fabbed the mounting pieces to take advantage of the range of cylinder travel. Full upward position is when the cylinder is fully retracted, and the lowest deflector position is reached when the cylinder is all the way out. No chance of over-driving the deflector. The electric chute controls connect to the tractor via a trailer connector type plug setup.

Thanks for the info. Was wondering if I would be popping fuses if the deflector reached its limit and the actuator kept on going, but you seemed to answer that.
Thanks again.

Do you guys actually change your deflector? I'm curious why.
I've moved mine 2x. Once to see what "down" was like and once to put it back.

Maybe if I had neighbors I could see (obstacles)? I just want it "way the F* over there" when I'm blowing.......

When I measured it appeared that four inches would bottom it out each way. I am looking at them on ebay. They are pretty much the same as you have.

I could hit my neighbors easily and a stone could do some damage. Better to be safe in my case.

I am going to line the drum and the chute with what we use to call glass board. We use to use it in the mangers on the farm. Pretty hard to hurt stuff. It will also bring my tolerances closer. Right now I do not pick up 2 quarters with a dime on top. Have not had the time to measure it. I will probably epoxy it down. May stop some sticking on bad days.

Last year I had to get off the tractor several times to move the deflector down then back up. I thought I could get away with out it being electric but I was wrong. I have an open station and when dealing with the prevailing winds I have to tip the deflector down to blow the front of the house and some of the drive. Don't want to break the front windows or blow snow up against the house or look like Frosty when I'm done.

One place in particular that it's handy is when I drive into town and do the church. There are limited areas to deposit the snow. It is very handy to be able to aim the chute where you want. There are two parking lots and all the snow needs to go off the one side. That side on the one lot is separated from an adjacent (and lower) street by about 15' of sloped ground. Overshooting there would be a problem.
