Anyone have the mulching kit for Max 26xl MMM?

Rained last night but pretty dry by this afternoon so I figured I’d try it out. Think I’m going to be happy with it. While the worst is yet to come it did a good job on the leaves. The pictures show a single pass over the yard. I like that I don’t have to care about where the discharge goes so I can mow faster. Don’t like that there’s really no suction so when you cut next to a wall or garden or the edge of the driveway it doesn’t suck the leaves up.

I also have tons of leaves and I currently do what you do. Go around in circles discharging towards the center and keep going over them until they disappear. Decided I壇 give the mulcher a shot and installed it a couple days ago. Consists of 2 baffles and 3 toothed mulching blades. Blades are really heavy duty like the regular ones. If it doesn稚 rain hoping to try it out tomorrow. Will take some pictures of how it works out. View attachment 622274View attachment 622275

By the way... You probably already know this, but check the oil in the gearbox shown in your photos regularly! (Don't ask me how I know) You cant really service it very conveniently unless it is removed like you have it.

I have an update to this thread I will share based on my experience in October when I tried to buy a mulch kit to get rid of the leaves.

Mahindra has 2 mulch kits with the exact same part number for the Max 26 (65M) MMM. S# MAX26M01157. One kit has only the weldment closure plate and the 3 mulch blades, but the schematic show the older mower deck that was sold on the (Max 28). The other kit with the same part number has the weldment closure plate (different & better) plus the middle baffle and the 3 gator mulching blades. Both kits are in the $400 range.

I ordered the kit with the mid and side baffle plates for my mower deck that matched the schematic drawing . The dealer called and said they sent the other kit with the single end plate, and he knew it was not what we ordered. He called his Mahindra OEM Supplier and they told him the kit for the new model (2019 Max 26 XLT) was discontinued, and that each part needed to be purchased separately. (each baffle is $350 so the sum of the parts is approx $800) as compared to the $400 kit price that is shown on the Mahindra parts catalog Website.

It is baffling to me why they would discontinue the kit for their newest and most recent model. $800 for a mulch kit is above my pain threshold.

I plan to replace the rubber chute with a fabricated closure plate that I can open and close, and install some gator blades. The cut may not be suitable for a golf course, but it will be good enough for my old farm turf and should significantly reduce the leaf litter each fall.

Anyone considering a Mulch Kit for the Max 26 XLT - be prepared to shell out $800. If you find that they have started selling the $400 kits again, please update this tread and let us know.

Jeesh, I thought the $400 kit was a little ridiculous considering all that it is. No way I'm paying $800. I ended up needing to replace my riding mower that I use when the tractor had other projects going on and bought a zero turn. It cuts really well, is faster, and the clippings are short like a mulching setup. I typically use it for everything now and let the tractor setup for other chores.

The 60 inch mower decks in the parts pictures are not the same. The deck on the right already has most of the baffles installed so It looks like only the discharge baffle is needed. The deck on the left has no baffles across the front, totally flat so there’s 3 baffles which will make it look like the one on the right.
I have the deck design from the left. Now as to why both kits cost the same when one kit has 3 baffles and one kit only has one, only Mahindra knows.
$800 is too much, the original quote when I bought the tractor was $500 still too much, 3 years later at $400 I caved and bought it. Very happy with lots of mature maples didn’t do any raking this year. Not sure how it would work on tougher leaves like oaks.
