had a 1949 [bought new by dad] up until last year .. was converted to 12 volt, good rubber, weights, some new parts ... sold for 500 to another guy when the land was sold
They had about a 2 page write up in the current edition of Farm Collector or another farm equipment related magazine at our local library. If I remember I will try to locate it and send you the exact name etc. It was interesting.
As was said, they were made by Brantford Ontario Cockshutt who was later bought by White and merged also with Oliver.
They were a good tractor. I believe Cockshutt was the very first live PTO and their rear axle was bulletproof. So much so that most of the early competiton pulling tractors used Cockshutt rear ends in them.
mine didn't have the live pto, it had a two speed pto and a two speed lever on the transmission effectively giving a three speed pto ...
as far as the rear ends being tough, this had no work done there in 70 years, but it make a pretty loud whining sound ..ears on the rear axle were broken off and repaired with a u bolt
