If you use your tractor to bushhog for others how much do you charge an hour to run your tractor ?

Steel,

Before I got my tractor, two summers ago I hired this guy about a mile away to mow for me. He charged my $60.00 an hour. He had a 5 ft bush hog with a JD tractor I believe it was around a 40 horsepower. He didn't deduct for hitting my drain field lines either. And yes I did show him where they were before he started. He clipped all of them off on one side. I had to dig up 5 of them and re-set them.

Before I bought my own JD 4710, I contracted out with my neighbor down the road who provided bush hog services. His rate was $40/hour.

Around here we usually pay 35 to 38 dollars per hour for someone to bushhog the hills in the fall. This is for a 7610 NH and a 15-18 ft. bushhog. Going over hills that you can't stand up on. Sometimes I just can't watch. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gifbut /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

But this is in a very rural area. But a guy could make some money doing small lots and plowing gardens, especially if you did'nt have insurance to worry about and your steel wheels /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif would be also very handy. I hate bushhogging new areas where I don't know anything about what's there.

I get $50/hr around here w/ a JD 4600 and a Bush Hog 286 6' cutter. No complaints from anyone so far and I get a fair amount of work.

I was thinking about approaching a couple different people who had farms that were growing up and thought I would get an idea of what to charge. I have a JD 4400 and 5ft hog.I go on some pretty steep terrain,I always walk unfamiliar land before I drive on it. Those "Steel Wheels" are handy.

I usually charge by the job instead of by the hour, but I try to get about 35-40 bucks per hour worked. If I have to trailer the tractor to do a job then I charge an extra 40 bucks.
