If your 2230 is like my 2350, which I bought without any hydraulics, it is not difficult but time comsuming. I also had to install the front hydraulic quick connects, joystick, front valve, and connecting linkages too. I also installed the rear hydraulic outlets at the same time. The instructions are excellent and contain some pictures. You will need to remove the right rear wheel, step, battery, remove steering wheel, dashboard, and disassemble some structural members under the dash to get the joystick installed. The hardest part for me was snaking in the pre-assembled quick connects with the attached hard lines. Took quite a bit of manuvering to get it all to line up. Adequate working space around the tractor is a big plus and have the mower deck off. I did need crow foot wrenches to install the rear kit but standard flare nut wrenches will suffice for the front hydraulics. Make sure you wipe a film of UDT on the flare fitting faces before assembling them. If I knew how to get pics out of my iPod touch onto the PC I would post them. If you have a fairly good selection of tools and some mechanical ability, you should be able to do it fine.
