I like to listen to some tunes when I am on the tractor. I have been using a walkman and it is ok, but Havin my ears covered up kind of makes it hard to tell what is going on around me and the wires keep getting caught up on the levers, etc. I am thinking about mounting a cheap car stereo in my tractor and putting small speakers somewhere behind me possibly low on the ROPS that way I can listen to the radio at low volume, be able to hear it, and be able to hear other things as well. Just wondering if anyone else has done this and has any ideas to offer on mounting the unit or the speakers.

I have the fender mount radio sold by TSC on my NH tractor.
it has a single speaker and a weather proof enclosure.. but I usually listen thru headphones. lets me listen at low volume while mowing.. plus saves my ears from the tractor noise. Listening to it without headphones is almost impossible except at low idle.
unit cost about 99$ or so.
Other use headphone radios.. etc.
I havn't found any problems with the headphones blocking 'critical' noise. most of the stuff I 'listen' to with the tractor can be felt thru the seat, steering wheel, and deck plates / running boards..

I have a radio in my JD 2210. It came in the Console made by Curtis. I'd suggest the console (if you have a cab and if your willing to put down 499$ on it) But the console has 6 switches to control accesories you might want (strobes,windshield wiper, work lights, heat, ect...) and it has a nice radio and speakers all built right in. It also has a defronster built in too. This is of course if you have a cab i'm not sure if you do, but if you do this is a good option. There are pictures of it in my thread.
