Anyone know of discs that allow free attachment?

I dropped by the salesman's desk today after buying an oil filter and asked him about discs to attach to my 2" bar. He had some DHL ones in a catalog that are about the same price as the ones someone else pointed out in a Columbus Grove website. The catalog also showed some tines that look as though they'd replace the ones on my soil ripper. I was wondering if I broke one whether I'd be out of luck then.

DHL has 10, 12, 14 and 16 inch discs mounted either on a straight 1 1/4" round bar or on offset bars. Think I can use as big as the 16 inch. Throw of soil will depend on the depth I can run it at. The angle I attach it will determine the furrow width and amount of throw, too.

Anyone have anything that defines what size disc is used for what hp and soil toss?

I got the DHL information from the JD dealer in town.

I just got the Agri-Supply catalog. Their disc hillers are HALF the price of either DHL or the outfit in Columbus Grove, OH. The Columbus Grove folks have custom clamps for the shanks though, at about $15 each.

Thanks a bunch, guys. Will measure my clearances, etc. on the soil ripper to see what size disc hillers I can mount on there, probably be 14 or 16".

These disc hillers could make my Gravely rotary plow redundant. The FEL loader has made its snow plow and old square chute snow blower redundant already.

With a carryall to tote my Lawnboy around for trimming, I can probably not need the Gravely bush hog. Only thing worth keeping will be the Gravely cart.
