Posthole Digger Anyone know the RPM of a Post Hole Digger?

Just working on an idea for my PT. A winter project. Wondering if anyone knows the RPM's A post hole digger attains. Trying to find a hydraulic motor that might fit a few different bills..

It may vary with manufacturer, I only looked at Landpride. Their PHDs are spec'd as follows:
Input: 540 PTO rpm
gear ratio: between 3:1 and 4:1
Output: 300 auger rpm

I'm pretty sure my auger doesn't turn 300 rpm. I would expect with a 4:1 gear ratio the auger would be spinning more like 120-140 rpm. I typically run the auger with the tractor engine just above idle, so the effective auger rpm when I am digging holes is probably around 60-70 rpm.

Are you planning on putting on a PHD gearbox to replace the PTO shaft or one to mount the bit to directly?

Are you planning to build a hydraulic PHD that attaches to your PT's implement arm?

I'm planning to either buy or build a hydraulic PHD for my Mahindra 5525 that attaches to the ML250 FEL bucket. The hydraulic flow on the 5525 is 10.5 gpm at 2100 rpm on the engine. How does this compare to the specs for your PT?

Like you I've been looking for a suitable hydraulic motor. No luck so far.

180 RPM at PTO speed. A lot slower in reality, since most run at idle or a little higher. You are looking at turning the auger at around 60 RPM. I don't think you can do it without a reduction gear box.

Here's a good deal on a motor. You would need a five or six to one reduction gear to slow it down enough and generate enough torque. I think its GPM rating is probably in the ballpark for your machine. Watch out for the ports, though. You would need British hose fittings.

Edit: Yes, it's a wheel motor, but it's in keeping with the "Power Trac Way" (TM).

Thanks everyone.... Snowridge, I am at 18GPM on my tractor..... Those motors are a bit small for my purposes but it has me thinking.

Honestly, I do not know what I am going to do. I need the following,

Post Hold Digger
Trencher
Stump Grinder
Rotatiller
Chipper
Log Splitter

I don't mind used equipment as this stuff will not get a ton of use.

It may make sense to build or buy a Hydraulic PTO adapter. Then purchase conventional used equipment. I like the thought of building, not sure I will like the results. Really don't have anywhere near the skill I see here.

What got me thinking was there is this a log splitter in the PT forum that is cone shaped, but the guy claims you can swap a variety of implements on and off his design. I had a hard time believing he could get a post hole digger to be effective off a conical log splitter but....

So explain to me the long bar on the Trencher? Trying to prevent stuff from flying out? I wouldn't be anywhere near that thing went it started up.

Love the stump grinder. That would taking out my giant maple stumps I have on my property.

Nope, lift leverage. Note the cable. The other end likely wraps around a winch.
