That's a pretty weed. Nothing like that down here. Wonder what would happen if someone posted a thread asking for the ID of a big, stalky cannabis plant?

It turns out that mullein can be smoked and the leaves have "mild sedative and narcotic properties. When smoked or added to teas, they can produce a mild, legal high" according to Mullein Effects & Benefits - Smokable Herbs. I haven't tried it, so I can't vouch for the claim.

Hmmm - - I always have two and some years three varieties of the plant. Looked it up and it has a surprising number of medicinal uses.

Seems we had the same thing in mind. While going around with the roundup sprayer I decided to leave this one grow and see what it was. I thought it might be a milk weed when it was small. You beat me to the punch when you posted. Here is my version of the mystery plant.

I initially thought it was going to be some type of milkweed as well. The more I read about about it, the more I'm considering making a small plot to farm it. ha. It's a VERY interesting plant.

Mine just started morphing into a Poseidon-ish trident spear too.
