Anyone near Ontario CA (need help on ebay purchase)

I have purchased a New Holland 758C backhoe from someone on ebay. This person although having 100% positive feedback seems to not be trustworthy. He changed the method of payment from money order or cashiers check to wire transfer after the auction closed. I have not been able to locate him or his telephone number using whitepages. I have sent numorus emails to him without response. The bank where he wants the money sent said the account has been open less than a month. I am looking for someone in the Ontario CA area who can drive by and maybe check this out for me. I live in NY. His name is Philip Ahn and his address is suppose to be 460 W Elm Street, Ontario CA. Are there any New Holland friends out that way that could help me.

Sounds like a scam to me. I would NOT pay by wire transfer. Contact ebay through the dispute system and let them know that the seller has changed the payment terms. Either he can agree to the original terms or ebay will cancel the transaction for you. I also would not post his name and address here. Ebay can suspend your ebay account for disclosing other ebay members personal information. Also he should have a phone number on file with ebay. On ebay's website go to this page and ebay will email you his contact info. If the contat info he has on file is not correct ebay can suspend his account as it needs to be current. eBay Search: Find Contact Information

Well, I am in Ontario, CA. and maybe could check it out but need a little more info.

An address of 460 W Elm Street, Ontario CA doesn't really help much as Ontario is a big place.

Do you have a town or city or postal code or anything like that ? Any little thing may help in a search.

If you got in touch with his bank, where is the bank ?

That would be like saying 123 E Main Street, Texas USA.
Unless the person can provide a legitimate city too, I would be very leary of this transaction.

That adddress pops up on Mapquest on first try. About 2 miles off the interstate in what appears to be a residential neighborhood.

It may, but Ontario is a Province not a city/town. I guess there could be a Ontario/Ontario/CA.

Ontario California or Ontario Canada?? I saw the CA and assumed California where the address came up quickly. I thought the postal abbrev for Canada was CAN.

It's a scam. They will try to get any personal information they can from you in hopes of using it for identity theft. They are probably not even in Canada.

Now I understand. Good question. I believed Canada because he is in NY and not too far away, but I could be wrong. I beleive CA is also used for Canada. You can type in Google to get the Canadian version of google.

So the website realizes I type in a website. So if you load google with CA instead of .com you will get the canadien version.
