I was pre T2D. I would suggest never going with a change that you plan to only do temporarily. I joined a program that was covered by my health insurance. It's a form of keto, but came with a ton of education before you even started. It also has lots of resources and a coach/doctor for support. It's a form of keto. As you can image, since insurance is covering it, it has proven results. Many that are on insulin are having to significantly reduce their amount in the first few days. That's why a doctor is assigned to monitor you.

When I started, I didn't know what to expect. I wasn't doing it for weight loss, but I quickly dropped all my extra fat. My A1C came down slowly and my FBG started to come down (it wasn't too high) after many months. The first few weeks were a change for me. After about 2 months of feeling AMAZING, I knew I could keep this going. Carbs cause a lot of inflammation in our bodies. Since day one, I have not had joint aches. I can jump out of bed like someone in their prime! It's important to educate yourself and stay committed. Portion sizes knowledge helps me from messing myself up. I'm constantly monitoring and that keeps me in check too.

Diets don't work. I have been on a number but always slip back into old eating habits. Right now I eat just about anything but control the amount which seems to work the best. Change to healthy food and just watch the amount, I keep telling my wife that its a small handfull of veggies and a small handfull of potatoes (rice or pasta) as well as small portion of meat. We also really watch the processed foods we eat, we like fruit and veggies better.

So far so good. Still a little overweight but yearly check up was great.

Much easier controlling the portion size than a fancy diet.

It's a Keto diet for me. Sounds about the same as these other low carb diets > I eat mostly veggies and meats. Lost 25-30 pounds in 6 months - down to my fighting weight. (y) I lots the belly fat. I'm no longer embarrassed about my shape. :giggle:
I staying on it. I'm not hungry. Type 2 diabetes under control. Was about to hit type 1 diabetic last January. Phew !
I started the keto diet February 1st and am down 67 lbs since then, I weigh i myself about every other Sunday morning

That's a lot of weight loss in 6 months... you must be doing Keto right!

I started sort of a Ketovore diet just before Christmas. About a week ago I kind of doubled down on doing it right and finally started losing weight. But the biggest thing I notice, is my focus has increased, my energy has increased and my colon is cleansed now 🤣 .

Actually today was the first day I didn't have to sprint to the bathroom. I was aware of all of the "adoption" phase of Keto and I didn't find it that bad.

I do not get hungry at all. the more Youtube videos I watch about Carnivore and Keto diets, the more I realize we've been lied to about food in the US. This shouldn't surprise me though. Beef is BAD, dontcha know!

I'm probably going to do a borderline carnivore diet until I lose my weight (I have a lot to lose) and then switch to a modified Keto. I do like veggies and fruit and hope to not give that up forever, but I can give it up for a year to hit my goal... I think. : )
