Hey, that's a cool rig. Thanks for sharing!!
Hello,
I'm looking to invest in a 100hp tractor and looking at the JD 6105M or the MF 5610 or 5400 series. I'd like to add a front PTO and Front 3pt. onto these. Larforge makes the OEM for the JD. I think about a 12,000 add on. Anyone know much about Front PTO and Front 3pt for use here in the U.S.
Thanks
I'm not advocating Kubota but take a look at this: Go to Kubota Unveils New Mid-Range M7-Series Ag Tractor - TractorByNet.com and click on the Kubota M7 image to zoom it full screen. That looks like a serious front 3pt system with PTO. That's on their new 130-170HP M7 models coming out in 2015. If you are looking at 100HP + tractors that is a pile of cash and good reason to look at everything. It appears that a lot of the bigger tractors are being made in France these days including the Massey above 100 hp and these Kubotas. I was surprised to see Kubota manufacturing in France !
A factory installed front 3PH and PTO is the best decision as you get full warranty coverage through the dealer network. I have a local commercial orchard friend who bought a 1 yr old JD5103EN and had a LaForge front end put on the tractor by a company(not JD) in upstate NY that claimed to have done many such conversions. Well within 1 month the LaForge unit trashed the driveline and he had to have the local JD dealer do a major repair. During the teardown for the repair it turns out the installer did not know what they were doing with the JD tractor when they did the LaForge install. So my recommendation would be to have a factory installed unit and if only an aftermarket install fits the budget make sure you are covered for any warranty repairs and confirm the installer is factory recognized. There is nothing wrong and there are some real upsides to LaForge units.
