 Yep here is what it looks like today in Northern Ohio
At 6 AM I took a measurement of the picknick table out back & read 6.5" but started blowing pretty good and warmed a bit so some of the top is MIA now.
I used to plant early, which is April or early May for my soil. I've learned to plant no earlier than Memorial Day now. That seems to get me past the surge of potato beetles, and my crop is much better.
Some here say wait until Feb. I will wait until March but then it's all on as I will plant onions, lettuce, spinach. I wish I had a green house so I could plant and harvest year round.
We had them in the ground last year by January 15 and they started sticking their heads up by feb 10 and started harvesting some by may 5th and went all the way until july 10the before the last were dug up.
A little cold yet and snowy to plant spuds! But I am enjoying the ones I dug in the fall. My wife tried little hot potatoes in her mittens today- she said it was nice at first but became mushy and she tossed the two of them!
