It’s funny that I have been rotary mowing for 35 years and didn’t discover how nice that flap discs work for this purpose.

Started using them last year on the Krone hay mower and really liked them , the only time I use anything else is when I remove the blades from a machine , like on one of my Gravely zero turn mowers, then it's usually the bench grinder.

My bad - I misread the original post to be referring to a flap wheel not a disc. I use a flap wheel on one of my bench grinders. A variation could be used on a drill which is what I thought OP was asking about.
I too use flap disc on my grinder in the shop and for reshaping the hammers on the mower.

I keep 2 grinders at hand in the shop. One with a regular grinding wheel for heavy stuff and the other with the flap disc.
One of them is always the right tool for the task at hand

How sharp do you guys have the blades on your 'hogs? Mine are rather blunt, but look like they were intended to be that way. Does tend to knock down a lot of grass vs cutting it and I'd like to improve that without making them too vulnerable to brush, etc.
Bought it (very) used so no reference to how it was when new.

It can't be too critical, as some cutters use chains. I grind brush blades at a steep angle (maybe 45-60 deg) with a sharp edge. Sometimes I'll run the grinder perpendicular to the edge, blunting it a 1/6th" or so. I rarely cut heavy brush / saplings, so a somewhat sharp edge works for me. Having a sharp edge cutting saplings can create punji sticks.
My finish mower blades get a 30 degree, very sharp edge. They get sharpened every 40 hours or so
